In seeking to learn more about the different factors and areas related to civil society and data availability in a country, we have compiled a short questionnaire to help us evaluate the “GuideStar Readiness” of countries worldwide.
The questionnaire has been compiled together with Les Hems of GuideStar UK, and draws extensively from Les’s experience with the more thorough investigations of “mapping” civil society undertaken by the Center for Civil Society Studies at Johns Hopkins University (JHU). It is not our intention to re-create more extensive studies like that of JHU or the CIVICUS Civil Society Index (CSI) which have already taken place; rather we hope through this exercise to “tease out” the information most pertinent to our goal of spreading the ‘GuideStar’ model around the globe.
