The GuideStar Israel website is finally completed and is currently undergoing testing by a variety of focus groups which include:
• Third sector organisations (different sizes, missions and categories)
• Philanthropic foundations and donors
• Government agencies
• Capacity building organisations
• Law firms
• Accounting firms
• Banks
118 pilot participants have taken part and they have described the site as friendly, "clean" and intuitive to use. Most participants see GuideStar Israel as a tool for fundraising. Individuals that attended the launch meetings were primarily CEOs or the persons in charge of fundraising. The cooperation between the
Ministry of Justice and GuideStar Israel is unique, and many look forward to witnessing how such close collaboration between a government agency and a third sector organisation will function. Almost everyone who tests the GuideStar Israel website find it hard to imagine the changes the Israeli Third Sector will undergo as a result of the launch of GuideStar. The volume of information which will be made available is inconceivable to many. Information on the website is available in Hebrew, Arabic and English. However, there is also an urgent need for the facility to allow organsiations to create multiple profiles in different languages. With Jewish philanthropy coming mainly from the US, an English profile is urgently needed. GuideStar is expected to become an engine for professional development, fundraising and cooperation with the Israeli Third sector.
