Illuminating the work of the world's civil society

Implementation Process

As each new entity is formed and begins the work of building a GuideStar system, its managers will work closely with GSI technical personnel to define and document the requirements for the Web site and database for their country.

Details such as data fields, search criteria, data capture processes, and display parameters will be chosen and implemented based on what each country needs.

In designing version 1.0 of the Global Common Technology Platform, we have created a centralized solution so that these choices can be incorporated into a new site and the site deployed in a matter of weeks.

After initial deployment, in-country GuideStar system personnel will have control of content management and basic Web site administration; while functions such as hosting, maintenance, and data uploading will continue to be managed by GSI technicians.
