South Korea

The first phase of the GuideStar project was incubated at Kids and Future Foundation that has founded GuideStar Korea as an independent organization in 2008.

Director

Du Jun Park

Status

Kids and future has incubated the development phase of the GuideStar model in Korea where the necessity and the feasibility of the project was proven. Currently GSKorea is a development partner of GuideStar International. Its working focus is developing its data acquisition strategy and is expecting to be member of the GuideStar Alliance.

Project Vision

The project will allow full transparency to civil society organisations in South Korea nationally and globally.

“Contributors in Korea often have a difficult time finding organizations that meet their interests and needs due to a lack of available information. This has caused a delay in developing a more vibrant and proactive contribution culture in Korea. The reason for adopting a GuideStar system is to improve the current situation and allow more people to be active and fully engaged in donating, as well as to encourage small contributors (those who donate a relatively small amount) by working cooperatively with the several relevant organizations and institutions. Du Jun Park, Director of GuideStar Korea

Important Dates

  • 9 June 2008: Signed MOU between GSI and GSK
  • Second part of 2008: Finalize Deployment Plan
  • Spring 2009 (the latest): Formal Application for GuideStar Alliance Membership

Supporters

As the entity is new, its most important supporter is its founder while the financial sustainability is being addressed with high hopes.
